Carer Support

At our support groups you’ll be among other people who can do far more than sympathise because we all share the experience and can understand quite genuinely what you may be going through. This may help you to feel less isolated and you may want to share your feelings with the group, especially if you have been feeling very unhappy, or if you have good news to share with others, but this is entirely up to you. We make sure that we maintain confidentiality. Whatever is discussed in the room stays in the room!

Our meetings are  held on a regular basis and this enables us to build relationships within the group. You may find that you make new friends and that your social life improves as a result.

The first part of the meeting is often devoted to a presentation by a guest speaker, and this enables us to exchange up to date practical information that helps us in our day to day role as carers. For example, we might learn about available resources in Enfield, or about breakthroughs in medication or other treatments and how to access them for our loved ones.

We also use the meetings to share tips on ways of coping, and there is often a great deal of fun and laughter to be had.
