ECC Active Ageing Workshops for Carers and their loved-ones living with Dementia

Thanks to funding by the Big Lottery Awards for All Grant, Enfield Carers Centre is celebrating Dementia Action Week by working with Don’t Tone Alone (DTA) to introduce four new Active Ageing workshops.

Carers and their loved ones with Dementia will work together in pairs to learn techniques, exercises and tips to help you:

  • find enjoyable ways of communicating
  • enjoy fun activities that make the most of their existing memory/abilities
  • learn gentle fitness exercises using everyday routines that you can do at home
Workshop 1
Wednesday 23rd May 2018
Making the everyday fun – considering therapeutic opportunities in everyday life – reframing daily tasks to make them more enjoyable and what each of us can do rather than what we can’t
Workshop 2

Exercise for two – prepare to have a laugh as we go through a range of paired exercise which involve sitting, standing, throwing and catching. You will be amazed at what you can do.

Exercise for the mind – activities for the brain and what provides the most helpful stimulus graded for different abilities to explore what’s most enjoyable and beneficial
